In a recent inspection, Major General Pilot Ahmad Mohammed bin Thani, Assistant Commandant for Ports Affairs, reviewed Dubai Police’s remarkable achievements in response times and the integration of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
The Dubai Police’s commitment to rapid response was underscored by the statistics from the previous year, where security patrols consistently reached emergency sites in an impressive 2 minutes and 32 seconds, surpassing their target of three minutes. Furthermore, emergency calls made to 999 achieved an exceptional 99.7 percent response rate within 10 seconds, exceeding the set target of 97 percent, with a total of 7.4 million calls answered promptly.
Bin Thani also explored the latest AI advancements employed by Dubai Police. The “Virtual Operations Room” smart goggles, a virtual reality application, was showcased, designed to train staff by simulating various control room scenarios. It displays incident management systems, Dubai maps, and live feeds from connected cameras.
Additionally, Bin Thani was introduced to the handheld wireless operations toolkit, which provides essential software tools for incident reporting, patrol surveillance, and seamless communication with the operations room. He also examined the state-of-the-art mobile operations vehicle, equipped with specialized applications and equipment, tailored for external event coverage.
Furthermore, Bin Thani was briefed about innovative projects within the General Department of Operations, which has acquired 22 intellectual properties (IP). These encompass advanced courses in operating drones and a program for assessing call centers.

During the inspection, Bin Thani was apprised of the initiatives and projects completed by the General Department of Operations in the past year. These initiatives include the Drone Systems Centre project, the Smart Alert Reporting initiative, the “Joker” initiative, and the Women’s Empowerment Team.
Dubai Police’s General Operations Department demonstrated exceptional accomplishments from the past year, securing the first accreditation for the use of drones beyond the line of sight from the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority. They pioneered the Drone Box project, received recognition as the best-supporting entity for innovation in the Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief Awards, and were recognized as the best entity in strategic objectives in the same awards. Furthermore, the Department expanded its membership in the European Emergency Number Association (EENA) and introduced the E-call service as a third-party service in the country.
