Timely Assistance and Humanitarian Efforts Extend Hope Amidst Adversity

In a heartwarming saga of resilience and compassion, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become a beacon of hope for Palestinians, particularly children and cancer patients, caught in the turmoil of war in Gaza. A timely directive from UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has opened doors to medical treatment in Abu Dhabi for those in desperate need.

Amna’s Journey: A Symbol of Resilience

Amna, a Palestinian mother of five, found herself facing an agonizing situation as her eight-year-old daughter Mesk battled cancer amid the devastation of war in Gaza. Faced with a demolished home, destroyed hospitals, and the absence of medical care, Amna hurriedly sought help at the UAE mission, armed with a CD containing Mesk’s brain scan.

From Refugee Camp to Abu Dhabi: A Glimpse of Hope

The UAE President’s directive, issued earlier this month, outlined a plan to provide medical care for 1,000 Palestinian children from Gaza and treat 1,000 cancer patients in UAE hospitals. This initiative became a lifeline for Mesk and others like her. The journey from a refugee camp, crossing borders to reach Abu Dhabi, symbolized resilience and hope amid adversity.

Renewed Hope at Burjeel Medical City

Upon arriving at Abu Dhabi airport, Mesk was swiftly transported to Burjeel Medical City (BMC), where she is set to resume her chemotherapy sessions. Amna, visibly relieved, expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing the dire circumstances they faced in Gaza, where communication was severed, homes were destroyed, and medical care became inaccessible.

Dr. Zainul Aabideen: A Voice for Vulnerable Children

Accompanying the patients from Palestine, Dr. Zainul Aabideen, the head of paediatric haematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant at BMC under Burjeel Holdings, highlighted the significance of the UAE’s humanitarian initiative. He stressed the high cure rate for leukemia and emphasized the crucial role the UAE’s ongoing mission plays in offering medical assistance to vulnerable children.

Amna’s Gratitude and Hope for the Future

Expressing her heartfelt thanks to UAE leaders and the medical community, Amna underscored the importance of staying together as a family. While Mesk embarks on her journey towards recovery, Amna holds hope for the safety of her other children and envisions a future where they can reunite.

As the UAE continues its commitment to providing medical aid to those in need, the story of Amna and Mesk stands as a testament to the profound impact of humanitarian efforts in the face of adversity.
