Minor Tremors Felt
While the earthquake was considered minor, many residents reported feeling the tremors. Social media platforms were abuzz with accounts of the quake’s effects, with residents sharing their experiences. One commenter mentioned feeling the tremors in the Al Badia area.
No Cause for Concern
Experts quickly reassured UAE residents that they need not be concerned about earthquakes. Khalifa Al Ebri, the director of the Department of Seismology at NCM, emphasized that the UAE has low to moderate seismicity, making it a safe region. He noted that the country is not located on an active seismic belt.

Al Ebri further explained that the UAE experiences frequent tremors, averaging two to three per year. However, most of these tremors are so mild that people do not feel them, and they are only detected by sensors. Importantly, these minor tremors do not pose any threat to the country’s buildings or infrastructure.
The incident serves as a reminder that while the UAE may occasionally experience minor seismic activity, it remains well-prepared to handle such situations, ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
