UAE’s Umm Al Quwain Police Launch Pedestrian Safety Awareness Campaign

Umm Al Quwain, UAE – The Umm Al Quwain police have initiated a comprehensive awareness campaign as part of their 2023 operational plan, aiming to enhance road safety and prevent accidents at pedestrian crossings. Colonel Mohamed Obaid Youssef Mohamed bin Hadiba announced this campaign in alignment with the UAE Ministry of Interior’s broader strategy to raise awareness about traffic rules and regulations.

The primary objective of this initiative is to educate both motorists and pedestrians on the importance of adhering to road safety measures. Motorists are reminded of their duty to yield to pedestrians at designated crossings, while pedestrians are encouraged to use these designated areas for their own safety. Disregarding these regulations can lead to severe injuries and fatalities.

The campaign emphasizes that motorists failing to yield the right of way to pedestrians at designated areas will face a penalty of Dh500 along with the addition of 6 black points to their driving licenses. Similarly, pedestrians attempting to cross the road illegally will be subject to a fine of Dh400.
