Rains turn UAE landscape green; orange alert issued in parts of country

In a stunning contrast to the usual overcast skies, the UAE’s mountainous regions have come alive with lush greenery as refreshing rains poured down on Tuesday. The National Centre of Meteorology’s (NCM) predictions came to life, treating residents in Fujairah and Khor Fakkan to soothing showers as they went about their daily routines.

In various areas of Dubai, heavy downpours graced the landscape, aligning with NCM’s forecast for showers in Marmoom. Videos shared on the weather monitoring platform, Storm Centre, showcased the picturesque transformation of the mountains in Fujairah, where vibrant greenery greeted motorists. This stunning view is a testament to the recent cloud-seeding efforts that enhanced rainfall in parts of the country over the weekend.

The NCM has advised that today’s rainfall could last until 7 pm and has issued alerts for different regions. Fujairah is under a yellow alert, while Dubai and Abu Dhabi are facing both orange and yellow alerts. Residents are urged to exercise caution when venturing outdoors and to be aware of potential hazardous weather conditions.

As a result of the rain, temperatures have experienced a notable drop, with a low of 19ºC expected today, while internal regions of the country may see a high of 40ºC. This unexpected yet refreshing rainfall serves as a reminder of nature’s beauty and its ability to transform the arid landscapes of the UAE.
