Dubai Police Unveils Autonomous AI-Equipped Vehicles for Enhanced Surveillance

Dubai, renowned for its commitment to innovation and safety, is set to bolster its security measures with the introduction of fully autonomous vehicles equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) by the Dubai Police. Demonstrated at the ongoing Dubai Airshow 2023, these state-of-the-art vehicles are designed to conduct facial scans and read vehicle number plates, enhancing surveillance capabilities throughout the city.

The autonomous vehicle, named MO2, showcases the latest advancements in policing technology, aiming to contribute to making Dubai one of the safest cities globally. Manufactured in collaboration with Micropolis Robotics, the vehicle integrates cutting-edge features, including 360-degree camera views, facial recognition technology, car number plate recognition, and a motion detector.

Key Features:

  1. Surveillance and Reconnaissance: MO2’s primary function is to conduct surveillance and reconnaissance activities across community areas in Dubai.
  2. Facial Recognition: The vehicle employs advanced facial recognition technology, scanning for individuals wanted by the police, overstayed visa violators, and illegal residents.
  3. Vehicle Number Plate Recognition: MO2 reads and analyzes vehicle number plates, contributing to law enforcement efforts to identify unregistered cars.
  4. AI-Driven Alerts: The AI-equipped vehicle autonomously alerts authorities in case of suspicious activities, facilitating timely police intervention.
  5. Operational Autonomy: MO2 can operate for up to 16 hours autonomously, providing extended surveillance capabilities.

The deployment of MO2 is expected to revolutionize the patrolling system, ensuring a proactive approach to maintaining law and order. The vehicle’s advanced capabilities will assist law enforcement in effectively addressing security concerns, responding to incidents promptly, and enhancing overall safety across the city.
