Temporary Traffic Diversion During UAE Union Day Celebrations and COP28 in Dubai

Dubai, UAE – In preparation for the upcoming UAE Union Day celebrations and the UN Climate Change Conference COP28, the Dubai Media Office announced a temporary traffic diversion on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi. This rerouting will extend from the Trade Centre Roundabout to the Expo Intersection and will be effective for three days, from December 1 to 3, 2023, between 7 am and 11 am.

To ensure the smooth flow of traffic during this period, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has devised a comprehensive traffic plan. The plan includes the utilization of alternative routes, such as Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road, Emirates Road, Al Khail Road, Jumeirah Road, Al Wasl Road, and Al Khail Road.

The RTA strongly recommends the use of public transportation during this period and advises motorists to stay informed about temporary traffic diversions and alternative routes through directional signage and updates on smart screens.

As COP28 is scheduled to take place at Expo City Dubai from November 30 to December 12, the RTA has implemented a transportation plan for the event. This includes providing transportation across the Blue Zone for official delegations and the Green Zone for representatives of businesses and the public. Various transit modes, such as the Dubai Metro, Dubai Bus, and taxis, will be utilized to ensure efficient mobility management and the smooth flow of traffic at the event site.
