Dubai is set to welcome a $1.2-billion waterfront project named ‘The Island,’ featuring renowned Las Vegas hotel brands such as MGM, Bellagio, and Aria. The development, spread across 3.5 million square meters in Jumeirah Beachfront, Umm Suqeim 2, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.

While MGM, Bellagio, and Aria are known for operating casinos, it remains unclear whether The Island will include casino facilities. The project, awarded to China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd Middle East by property developer Wasl, will encompass 1,000 hotel rooms and apartments, along with 10 villas and F&B outlets.

Key features of The Island include a 110-meter-tall entertainment tower providing a 3D view of shows for 300 guests, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a business lounge, water fountains, artificial waterfalls, an 800-seat theater for various events, and a beach club offering maritime leisure services. The development will also have a 1.2-km corniche featuring cafes, restaurants, and retail stores, as well as a ‘Cave of Wonders’ with sports and games for children and families.

Zoya Akbar Khan, Assistant Manager for Customer Services at BNC Network, anticipates a “tremendous response” to the project, citing the global recognition of brands like Bellagio and MGM. She expects the unique location, potential gaming facilities, and distinctive entertainment offerings to attract ultra-high-net-worth individuals and tourists to The Island.
