UAE National and Spouse Injured in Prague Mass Shooting Tragedy

Prague – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mofa) confirmed that a UAE national and his wife were among those injured in the tragic mass shooting incident that unfolded at a university in Prague. The authorities are actively monitoring the health status of the couple and have assured full support and healthcare, in coordination with Czech authorities.

The mass shooting, described as the worst in the history of the Czech Republic, occurred on Thursday when a student opened fire at Charles University’s philosophy department building. The gunman, identified as a student of the university, targeted fellow students, leading to the loss of at least 14 lives, with over 20 individuals reported to be injured.

Mofa has deployed a dedicated team on the ground to oversee the situation and provide assistance to the affected UAE citizens. The injured Emirati national and his spouse are receiving medical attention, and the ministry remains in close collaboration with Czech authorities to ensure the best possible care.

The tragic incident has prompted a swift response from the UAE authorities, emphasizing the importance of extending support to citizens affected by such unfortunate events abroad. The ministry issued an advisory to Emiratis in the area, urging caution and advising them to stay clear of the site. Additionally, citizens have been urged to adhere to safety instructions provided by Czech authorities.
