In a move expressing solidarity with the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Sharjah police have announced a ban on New Year’s Eve fireworks and celebrations. The decision aims to draw attention to the plight of Palestinians in war-torn Gaza, where the Israel-Hamas conflict has claimed over 20,000 lives, with a significant number being women and children.

The ban, announced on Tuesday night, underscores the authorities’ commitment to stand with the people of Gaza during these challenging times. Legal actions will be taken against any violators, and both institutions and individuals are urged to cooperate with the directive.

As the Israel-Hamas conflict continues, with Israel stating that there will be “no peace” until Hamas is dismantled, the death toll in Gaza is expected to rise further. The war has prompted concerns about a deepening humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory, with severe shortages of water, food, fuel, and medicine affecting Gaza’s 2.4 million people.

Since the conflict escalated, Gaza has experienced limited aid and significant challenges in meeting the basic needs of its population. Approximately 1.9 million Gazans have been displaced, amplifying the urgency for a resolution to the hostilities and addressing the humanitarian crisis.
