In a significant move aimed at enhancing transparency and equality, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a comprehensive assessment of its laws to ensure equal application across all segments of society. The country’s Vice-President and Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, emphasized the UAE’s commitment to global standards of transparency and the rule of law during a recent Cabinet meeting.
Chairing the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE’s status as a global country with laws that reflect international standards. The government launched a new platform to document laws, federal decrees, regulations, and executive decisions dating back to the UAE’s formation in 1971. Accessible in both Arabic and English, the platform aims to promote government transparency and provide the public with free access to over 1000 laws and regulations.

Furthermore, the platform encourages specialists and experts to offer insights and suggestions on existing laws and upcoming legislations, fostering a collaborative approach to legal development.
The newly approved ‘Science, Technology and Innovation Policy’ underscores the UAE’s commitment to research and development across various sectors. The policy addresses national challenges and outlines directives in six key areas, including energy transition, health, food security, water security, digital technology, cybersecurity, and advanced materials and manufacturing.
Notable aspects of the policy include a focus on solar energy, hydrogen production, healthcare advancements, environmental sustainability, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, and innovative industrial practices such as 3D printing and smart materials.

Additionally, Sheikh Mohammed approved the ‘National Policy for Improving Women’s Health,’ aimed at prioritizing women’s healthcare services and promoting collaboration between government and private sectors to advance health research and services for women.
