E-scooters have gained popularity among UAE residents for their convenience and promoted as environmentally friendly mobility solutions for short distances. However, experts caution against using substandard e-scooters and chargers, as lithium-ion batteries powering these scooters can overheat, catch fire, and potentially explode, especially if damaged or of inferior quality.

To ensure safety when charging e-scooters, riders are advised to:

  1. Avoid charging overnight or unattended.
  2. Refrain from purchasing substandard scooters and chargers available online.
  3. Invest in lithium batteries from reputable sellers only.
  4. Be vigilant for signs of battery failure and fire risk.
  5. Install smoke alarms in charging areas.
  6. Use the correct charger compatible with the battery.
  7. Disconnect the charger once the battery is fully charged.

These precautions can help mitigate the risk of fire incidents associated with e-scooter batteries and promote safer usage among riders.
