After experiencing a week of pleasant weather characterized by cooler temperatures and record rainfall, UAE residents are preparing for another round of inclement weather. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted heavy rain and dust storms for the upcoming week, attributing the weather phenomenon to a surface low-pressure system originating from the Southwest.
According to the NCM, clouds moving from the West will bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions on Sunday and Monday, with a possibility of heavy rainfall in certain Northern, Eastern, and coastal areas. Temperatures are expected to decrease by Monday, particularly in western regions of the country.

Winds are anticipated to shift from southeasterly to northwesterly, ranging from light to moderate, occasionally becoming fresh, especially in cloudy conditions. This change in wind direction may lead to blowing dust and sand, posing challenges for residents and commuters.
Sea conditions are also forecasted to range from slight to moderate, occasionally becoming rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea, prompting caution among sailors and marine enthusiasts.
Last week’s rainfall, described as equivalent to the rain received by the UAE three decades ago, led to flooding in various parts of the country. Employees were advised to work from home, and schools transitioned to remote learning as a precautionary measure.

During the period from February 11 to 15, the UAE conducted 27 cloud seeding operations targeting clouds with favorable conditions, characterized by strong updrafts and high humidity. The aim of these missions was to enhance rainfall across the country, mitigating the impact of water scarcity and replenishing water reservoirs.
As the UAE braces for another round of adverse weather conditions, authorities urge residents to stay informed about weather updates, exercise caution while commuting, and adhere to safety guidelines issued by relevant authorities.
