The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has taken a significant step towards safeguarding the rights and well-being of children with disabilities in Abu Dhabi by launching official channels for reporting cases related to child protection.
Marking Emirati Children’s Day, ZHO introduced a community initiative aimed at addressing cases of suspected abuse faced by people of determination. The initiative includes multiple reporting channels, such as an email address (pod.cp@zho.gov.ae), a hotline, and a WhatsApp service (0542003366), enabling individuals to report incidents promptly and securely.

Moreover, ZHO has implemented internal measures to facilitate reporting for its employees, ensuring a dedicated window on its internal website for cases concerning people of determination affiliated with the organisation.
The primary objective of the initiative is to foster a safe and supportive environment conducive to the healthy and sustainable development of children with disabilities. It encompasses preventive measures to combat all forms of abuse, including physical, psychological, and sexual exploitation, while promoting inclusivity and non-discrimination.

In line with this initiative, ZHO has trained 23 specialised staff members to serve as judicial officers specializing in child protection within the organisation. These individuals, designated as Child Protection Specialists, will play a crucial role in monitoring, reporting, and providing necessary protection for children with disabilities.
The comprehensive approach underscores ZHO’s commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of people of determination, reflecting a shared social responsibility to safeguard the well-being of vulnerable individuals within the community.
