UAE Cabinet Approves Key Amendments to Citizenship Law and Biofuel Policy

In a significant move aimed at enhancing citizen services and promoting sustainability, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Cabinet has approved several amendments to crucial laws governing citizenship and energy policies.

Led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Cabinet meeting heralded a series of transformative changes beneficial to the nation.

Extension of Passport Validity: One of the pivotal revisions involves the extension of the validity period of the Emirati passport from 5 to 10 years for individuals aged 21 and above. This extension is expected to streamline administrative processes and provide greater convenience to citizens.

Enhanced Citizen Services: Additionally, the amendments introduce a plethora of benefits, including expanded facilities and comprehensive digital services. These advancements underscore the UAE’s commitment to empowering its youth and ensuring efficient citizen services.

National Biofuel Policy: In alignment with the UAE’s dedication to promoting clean and sustainable energy sources, the Council of Ministers has adopted a national policy for the circulation and manufacture of biofuels within the country. This strategic move underscores the UAE’s commitment to combating climate change and reducing carbon emissions.

Digital Quality of Life Council Achievements: During the Cabinet meeting, notable achievements of the Digital Quality of Life Council were highlighted. Notably, the council’s collaborative efforts with social media platforms have resulted in the removal of over 160,000 websites and accounts promoting harmful content, including drugs and negative influences.
