In a bid to mark the joyous occasion of Eid Al Fitr, the Sharjah government has declared a generous one-week holiday for its public sector employees, starting from Monday, April 8. This announcement follows the UAE government’s decision to grant a one-week break for federal employees, setting the stage for an extended festive period.
The holiday, spanning from April 8 to April 14, allows ample time for government workers to partake in the celebrations and festivities surrounding Eid Al Fitr. Regular working hours are set to resume on Monday, April 15, reinstating normalcy in the public sector.
Notably, for federal employees who typically adhere to a four-day work-week, the holiday translates into a 10-day break, considering the official weekend days in Sharjah fall on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This extended hiatus provides an opportunity for individuals to revel in the spirit of Eid and cherish moments with loved ones.
It’s worth mentioning that the holiday commencement on April 8 is irrespective of the moon sighting, as per the Islamic calendar’s tradition. Ramadan, the sacred month of fasting, lasts either 29 or 30 days, culminating in the celebration of Eid Al Fitr on the first day of Shawwal, the subsequent month.
With anticipation building up as Ramadan draws to a close, residents across the UAE eagerly anticipate the festivities and traditions associated with Eid Al Fitr, making the forthcoming break a much-awaited respite for Sharjah’s public sector employees.
