Following the unprecedented rainfall that disrupted transportation networks in the UAE last week, Dubai Metro services continue to face challenges, with operations partially restored but significant disruptions persisting.

While the Red Line has resumed operations in both directions, commuters are advised that four stations – Onpassive, Equiti, Al Mashreq, and Energy – remain closed. The closures have led to overcrowding at operational stations, particularly during peak hours, as commuters navigate altered routes and limited services.

In response to the ongoing disruptions, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued an advisory urging commuters to avoid using the Metro during peak hours and plan their journeys according to the stations currently operational. Additionally, the RTA announced changes to the Metro Red Line schedule, with services operational from Centrepoint to Expo 2020 and UAE Exchange stations.

Commuters traveling from Centrepoint Metro station are required to change trains at Business Bay or Al Khail stations, where shuttle buses are available to transport passengers to the next operational station. However, reports indicate that some commuters have experienced delays and inconvenience due to infrequent shuttle bus services.

Journalist Laraib Anwer from Khaleej Times reported overcrowding at Abu Hail station on Monday morning, with commuters experiencing extended wait times before being granted platform access. Similar congestion was observed at Red Business Bay Metro Station (Al Safa side), leading to increased traffic volume on Sheikh Zayed Road near Al Safa toll gate towards the World Trade Centre.

The RTA emphasizes the importance of following instruction signage at metro stations and seeking guidance from Dubai Metro staff to ensure a smooth commute amidst the ongoing disruptions.
