Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, announced the approval of the master plan and designs for the Jebel Ali Beach Development Project, aiming to create the longest open public beach in Dubai. Scheduled to be completed under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the project marks a significant enhancement in the city’s recreational and environmental offerings.
Key features of the Jebel Ali Beach Development Project include:
- Scope and Features: Spanning 6.6 kilometers with a total area of 330 hectares, the project will feature a two-kilometer open beach for swimming, a 2.5-kilometer diving sports area, and a comprehensive walkway with viewing platforms. - Environmental Conservation: The project emphasizes environmental sustainability, with specific areas like the 1.6-kilometer mangrove beach developed by Dubai Municipality. This site, known as ‘The Nest’, serves as an educational hub focused on biodiversity conservation and turtle rehabilitation.
- Distinctive Locations: Divided into three main areas, the development includes ‘The Pearl’, featuring family-friendly activities and a beach club; ‘The Sanctuary’, prioritizing environmental conservation alongside recreational opportunities; and ‘The Nest’, dedicated to educational initiatives within the mangrove area.
- Strategic Vision: Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that the project aligns with Dubai’s goal to enhance quality of life through diverse urban options, promoting a healthy environment for residents and visitors alike.
