Dubai-based carrier flydubai announced a revision to its flight operations to Beirut, Lebanon, in response to rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. Effective immediately, flydubai will operate two daily flights to Beirut Airport (BEY) until August 2, down from the previous three daily flights that catered to the busy summer travel season.

“We continue to monitor the situation closely,” stated a flydubai spokesperson. This adjustment follows a series of regional disturbances, including a recent attack on a soccer field in the Israel-controlled Golan Heights. Although Tel Aviv has blamed Hezbollah for the incident, the militant group has denied any involvement.

In addition to flydubai, Emirates has also altered its operations. An Emirates flight scheduled to depart for Beirut at 7:30 am on July 31 was cancelled due to “operational reasons,” confirmed by an Emirates spokesperson.

The heightened alert in Lebanon comes after the weekend’s Golan attack, prompting numerous countries to call for de-escalation. Foreign missions in Lebanon are currently working to evacuate their staff amidst growing concerns of potential conflict.

The ripple effects of these tensions have impacted several other airlines. Lebanon’s national carrier, Middle East Airlines, along with Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines, and Eurowings, have experienced cancellations and delays in their flights to Beirut.

Flydubai has urged passengers to regularly check their flight status and stay updated on any further changes.

As the situation unfolds, the international community continues to advocate for peace and stability in the region.
