In a recent statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence in the Israel-Palestine conflict and called for the immediate protection of civilians. The Ministry emphasized the need to prioritize ending the violence and ensuring the safety of innocent people caught in the crossfire.
The Ministry condemned the serious and grave escalation of attacks by Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, against Israeli towns and villages near the Gaza Strip. This escalation includes the firing of thousands of rockets at populated areas and the reported abduction of Israeli civilians from their homes. The UAE underscored the importance of upholding international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of civilians during armed conflicts, and emphasized that civilians should never be targeted.
The UAE expressed its condolences to the families of all victims on both sides and urged diplomatic efforts to prevent further regional confrontation. The Ministry called on both parties to de-escalate the situation and avoid further violence, which could have tragic consequences for civilian lives and infrastructure.
Furthermore, the UAE stressed the need for the international community to work together to prevent the violence from leading to wider instability and the involvement of other groups. The Ministry reaffirmed the importance of preserving regional efforts aimed at dialogue, cooperation, and coexistence, and preventing further destructive actions in a region that has already endured significant hardship.
The UAE remains in close contact with regional and international partners to facilitate the swift de-escalation of the situation and the restoration of calm in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT). The UAE supports a return to negotiations for a final settlement based on the two-state solution, allowing Palestinians and Israelis to live in peace and dignity.
