UAE authorities have issued security alerts calling on residents to promptly update their devices and Internet browsers, with a particular focus on Apple device users and Google Chrome users.
The Cyber Security Council (CSC) raised concerns about “high-risk” vulnerabilities within the Google Chrome browser, which could potentially allow malicious actors to execute harmful code on users’ operating systems. They also warned Apple device users of several vulnerabilities in iOS systems that could grant hackers control over their devices.
To protect against these threats, both Chrome and Apple users are strongly advised to update their systems to the latest available versions:
For Google Chrome Users:
- For Microsoft: Ensure you are using version 118.0.5993.117 or 118.0.5993.118.
- For MacOS and Linux: Ensure your version is 118.0.5993.117.
For Apple Users: The vulnerabilities were identified in iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and Safari. To secure your devices, ensure they are running on the latest versions provided below.
