Speed Limit Reduced on Al Ittihad Road: Enhanced Safety Measures Implemented from Sharjah to Al Garhoud Bridge

In a proactive move aimed at enhancing road safety, authorities in Dubai have announced a reduction in the speed limit on a crucial section of Al Ittihad Road. Effective November 20, the speed limit on the stretch between Sharjah and Al Garhoud Bridge will be lowered from 100kmph to 80kmph.

This significant adjustment is expected to positively impact the safety and flow of traffic along this frequently traversed route. The altered speed limit will be applicable from the Sharjah-Dubai border on Al Ittihad Road and extends to Al Garhoud Bridge. Traffic signs along the road will be promptly updated to reflect the revised maximum speed limit, with red lines indicating the commencement of the speed reduction zone. To ensure compliance, radars on the road will also be adjusted accordingly.

Thousands of daily commuters, including residents and professionals, utilize this stretch for travel between Dubai and Sharjah. Notably, the decision to lower the speed limit comes after a recent comprehensive study conducted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in collaboration with Dubai Police. The study considered various factors such as the number of entrances/exits, proximity of intersections, recurrence of traffic accidents, and recent improvements and developments in the area.

Commenting on the decision, a representative from the RTA stated, “This move is in line with our commitment to road safety and follows the principles outlined in our speed management manual. By carefully assessing speed limits and traffic flow, we aim to create a safer environment for all road users.”

Residents and commuters are urged to stay informed about the changes, adhere to the new speed limits, and prioritize safety while navigating this vital transportation corridor.
