The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) in the UAE has expanded Emiratisation target rules to encompass over 12,000 companies with 20-49 employees. These firms, operating in 14 specific economic sectors, are now mandated to hire at least one UAE citizen in 2024 and an additional one in 2025.
The affected companies span diverse economic activities, including information and communications, finance and insurance, real estate, professional and technical activities, education, healthcare, and more. This extension of Emiratisation targets aims to boost employment opportunities for UAE citizens in sectors experiencing rapid growth.
Mohre has notified the companies through its digital system, affording them ample time to meet the prescribed Emiratisation targets. Fines will be imposed for non-compliance, with penalties amounting to Dh96,000 for each UAE citizen not hired in 2024, to be collected starting January 2025. Similarly, fines of Dh108,000 will be imposed for failing to meet 2025 targets, with collection scheduled for January 2026.
Companies subject to these targets are encouraged to register on the Nafis platform to access support in hiring qualified Emirati professionals. Mohre will conduct training workshops to guide these companies on meeting their targets and leveraging the benefits provided by the Nafis platform.
This move aligns with the broader Emiratisation initiative, which seeks to increase the participation of UAE nationals in the private sector and enhance their representation across various industries.
