UAE Educational Institutions Implement Distance Learning Amid Unstable Weather Conditions

In response to unstable weather conditions across the UAE, educational authorities have taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and continuity of learning for students on Monday, February 12.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has advised private schools, nurseries, and universities to offer distance learning options to students. This decision comes as a precautionary measure to accommodate the needs of parents, staff, and students amidst turbulent weather.

Government schools have been directed to conduct mandatory distance learning sessions on Monday, acknowledging the necessity to prioritize student safety during adverse weather conditions. Additionally, the Ministry of Education has issued a notice mandating distance learning in all federal higher education institutions on the same day. Private universities have been urged to assess regional circumstances and student requirements to determine appropriate learning arrangements.

In Ajman, all private schools will transition to distance learning on Monday, following a directive from the educational authority. Similarly, in Ras Al Khaimah, government schools will adopt distance learning to ensure the safety of administrative staff, teachers, and students.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has convened meetings to address the evolving weather situation. An alert has been issued for rainfall, lightning, thunder, and possible hail in various areas from Sunday to Tuesday. The NCEMA has reiterated the importance of adhering to safety protocols, especially in flood-prone areas, and urged motorists to exercise caution on roads.

Educational institutions and residents are advised to stay updated with official announcements from relevant authorities and to prioritize safety measures during this period of weather instability. The collective efforts of educational institutions and government agencies aim to mitigate risks and ensure the well-being of the community amidst challenging weather conditions.
