Residents across the UAE woke up to a tumultuous morning as heavy rains and thunderstorms battered various parts of the nation, prompting authorities to issue an orange alert. While some were fortunate to stay indoors, others braved the inclement weather as downpours and strong winds lashed their neighborhoods, creating dramatic scenes reminiscent of waterfalls cascading from the mountains in the north.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported the onset of heavy rainfall shortly after midnight, with Dubai experiencing showers and lightning as early as 2:35 am. A thick blanket of clouds enveloped iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, as rain and lightning illuminated the skyline.

The NCM issued an orange warning for nearly all areas in the country, cautioning residents of hazardous weather conditions persisting until 8 pm. Safety precautions have been implemented across sectors, with schools transitioning to distance learning, companies encouraging employees to work from home, and recreational areas such as parks and beaches temporarily closed.

Despite the disruptions caused by the adverse weather, authorities assure the public that these rains are expected to be less severe than the unprecedented downpour that inundated the country on April 16. With airports and airlines bracing for the impact, the UAE remains vigilant in its preparedness efforts to mitigate the effects of the ongoing weather disturbances.
