Emirates airline has announced the suspension of check-in services for passengers departing from Dubai on Wednesday, April 17, in response to the heavy rains that battered the UAE on Tuesday. The Dubai-based carrier advised passengers to anticipate delays in both departures and arrivals.
In a statement provided to Khaleej Times on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Emirates stated, “Emirates is suspending check-in for passengers departing Dubai effective 08:00hrs on April 17 until midnight (00:00hrs April 18), due to operational challenges caused by bad weather and road conditions.”

Affected passengers are encouraged to contact their booking agents or Emirates’ contact centre for assistance with rebooking. However, passengers already in transit and arriving in Dubai will continue to be processed for their flights. Emirates advised customers to anticipate delays in both departures and arrivals and recommended checking the latest flight schedules on the Emirates website for updates.
Dubai International (DXB) airport also issued a statement indicating the temporary diversion of inbound flights scheduled to arrive on Tuesday evening until the inclement weather situation improves. Nevertheless, departures are expected to continue operating as scheduled.
In light of the disruptions, Dubai Airports expressed its commitment to restoring normal operations and minimizing inconvenience to passengers. The airport urged guests to verify their flight status directly with the airline, allocate extra travel time to reach the airport, and utilize the Dubai metro when feasible.
Emirates assured passengers of its efforts to restore scheduled operations and pledged full support to affected customers. The airline apologized for any inconvenience caused and emphasized its dedication to assisting passengers during this challenging period.
