New Working Hours Announced for Ramadan in Sharjah

The Government of Sharjah has released new timings for the holy month of Ramadan, aimed at facilitating the participation of employees in spiritual and cultural activities. The Human Resources Authority in Sharjah has announced the official working hours for government departments, institutions, and bodies.

Based on the Hijri calendar published by the Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD), Ramadan is expected to commence on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. In line with this, government sector employees will adhere to adjusted working hours during Ramadan.

During the holy month, government sector employees are required to work from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. These timings apply to both fasting and non-fasting employees, ensuring that individuals have the opportunity to engage in religious observances and cultural practices associated with Ramadan.

The implementation of specific working hours during Ramadan reflects the commitment of the government to accommodate the spiritual and personal needs of its employees during this significant period in the Islamic calendar.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) had previously issued a circular outlining the official working hours for employees of federal authorities during the holy month of Ramadan.

The announcement underscores the importance placed on religious and cultural observances within the government sector, fostering an environment of inclusivity and respect for diverse religious practices among employees.
