Eid Al Fitr Holidays Announced for Dubai Educational Institutions

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced the Eid Al Fitr holidays for private schools, universities, and nurseries in Dubai. These educational institutions will remain closed from Monday, April 8, to Sunday, April 14, with regular classes resuming from Monday, April 15. This week-long holiday, combined with the Saturday-Sunday weekend, will provide students with a nine-day break.

Holiday Duration:

  • Private Schools, Universities, and Nurseries: Closed from Monday, April 8, to Sunday, April 14, with classes resuming on Monday, April 15.
  • Indian-curriculum Schools: Students have returned to classrooms starting April 1 but will soon break for the Eid Al Fitr holidays from April 6.
  • International Curriculum Schools: Currently enjoying a three-week Spring break since March 25, students will resume classes after the Eid holidays on April 15.

Eid Al Fitr Significance: Eid Al Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, marking the end of Ramadan in the Hijri calendar. Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of the Moon.

  • Return to Learning: Indian-curriculum schools in Dubai have resumed classes, while international curriculum schools are on a Spring break.
  • Government Employee Holidays: The UAE government has also announced Eid Al Fitr holidays for private sector employees, aligning with the same duration as the educational institutions.
