After a three-month hiatus due to a knee injury, actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran is gearing up to resume shooting for his highly anticipated directorial venture, ‘L2E – Empuraan,’ featuring the legendary Mohanlal. The news was met with immense excitement from fans and followers as Prithviraj shared a special launch video on his Instagram.
In his Instagram post, Prithviraj Sukumaran expressed his honor in welcoming #LycaProductions to the Malayalam Cinema industry. He announced, “Jointly produced by #AashirvadCinemas and #LycaProductions, the 2nd installment of the #LUCIFER franchise starts rolling from 5th Oct 2023.”
As the news broke, enthusiastic fans inundated the comment section with messages of anticipation and support. One fan exclaimed, “The king is coming to show you what his kingdom.”
The launch video of ‘L2E-Empuraan’ teased fans with glimpses from the prequel, ‘Lucifer,’ while Indrajith Sukumaran’s voice could be heard saying, “He is coming back.”
The sequel to Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut, ‘Lucifer,’ which also starred Mohanlal, was officially announced in August 2022. ‘L2E – Empuraan’ is set to commence its first official shooting schedule on October 5, 2023.
Notably, Prithviraj Sukumaran welcomed Lyca Productions on board, marking their debut in the Malayalam cinema industry with this monumental project. Lyca Productions is renowned for its involvement in blockbuster films, including ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I and Ponniyin Selvan: II,’ the upcoming action drama ‘Indian 2,’ and the recently released ‘Chandramukhi 2,’ among others.

Prithviraj had suffered a knee injury while filming an action sequence for the film ‘Vilayath Buddha.’ In June, he had shared the news of his injury on social media, assuring fans of his recovery and determination to return to work soon.
“Hello! So yes…I had an accident while shooting an action sequence for ‘Vilayath Buddha.’ Fortunately, I’m in the hands of experts who performed a keyhole surgery, and I’m now recouping. It’s rest and physiotherapy ahead for a couple of months. Will try my best to use that time constructively, and I promise to fight through the pain to recover fully and get back into action asap. Thank you to all those who reached out and expressed concern and love,” his note read.

In addition to ‘L2E – Empuraan,’ Prithviraj Sukumaran has a packed slate, including ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ alongside Tiger Shroff and Akshay Kumar, set to release on Eid 2024, and ‘Salaar’ with Prabhas, scheduled to hit theaters on December 22, 2023.
Fans eagerly anticipate Prithviraj’s return to the silver screen and the continuation of the ‘LUCIFER’ franchise with ‘L2E – Empuraan.’
