In a recent incident, the Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority (SPCFZA) successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt into the UAE. Two individuals were discovered concealed in tiny iron boxes installed under the rear trunks of two SUVs. The authority did not disclose the specific customs terminal where the incident occurred.

A video shared by the authority shows officers breaking open the rear bumpers of the vehicles, revealing the tightly packed individuals in the 2-foot boxes. The infiltrators did not possess any identification documents. Both the drivers of the vehicles and the individuals attempting to infiltrate have been handed over to the relevant legal authorities for further action.

Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, the Director of Terminals and Border Points Affairs at SPCFZA, emphasized that infiltration is a top concern for the authority. He noted that the UAE’s economic and developmental progress makes it a target for individuals seeking to exploit vulnerabilities. The Sharjah Customs employs a sophisticated system capable of thwarting various smuggling attempts, countering both individuals and criminal networks attempting to compromise the nation’s security.
