Red Alert for Heavy Fog in Parts of Abu Dhabi: Weather Advisory

The United Arab Emirates’ weather department has issued fog alerts for specific areas of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, urging motorists to exercise caution while navigating the roads. This advisory comes as a precautionary measure due to the potential reduction in visibility caused by dense fog.

  • Reduced visibility due to fog has prompted the activation of a speed reduction system on various roads in Abu Dhabi. Motorists are advised to stay vigilant and adhere to changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.
  • The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued two levels of alerts – red and yellow. The red alert signifies the actual formation of fog, with visibility dropping to as low as 1,000 meters.
  • According to the Met department’s statement, the fog formation is expected to occur between 3 am and 9 am on Tuesday. It primarily affects coastal and internal areas, potentially leading to significant reductions in horizontal visibility.
  • Overall, the weather in the UAE is expected to be fair, with occasional partly cloudy conditions. Low clouds are predicted to develop over the eastern coast in the morning, possibly evolving into convective clouds by the afternoon in eastern regions.
  • The night and early morning hours of Wednesday are expected to be humid, increasing the likelihood of fog or mist formation in select coastal and internal areas.
  • Wind conditions are forecasted to be light to moderate, occasionally strengthening. Sea conditions will be relatively calm in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
