The operation, involving the distribution of leaflets, was conducted amid a series of air strikes in Gaza, which Hamas health officials claim have resulted in the loss of more than 5,000 lives.
Leaflets bearing the appeal were disseminated via Israeli aircraft, and they carried an earnest message in Arabic. The message read, “If you want a better future for yourself and your children, do the right thing and send us safe and useful information about kidnapped people in your area.”

The leaflet further assured residents, stating, “The Israeli army promises to do everything to preserve your security and that of your homes, as well as a financial reward. We guarantee you total discretion.” To facilitate the reporting process, contact information was provided, including a telephone number and details of messaging services such as Telegram, Whatsapp, and Signal.
The Israeli army has officially confirmed the launch of this effort. In a statement, they explained, “As part of the extensive efforts to free the Israeli and foreign national hostages held by the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza, the (army) today used multiple channels to communicate with the residents of Gaza and ask for information about the hostages.”

The operation stems from an alarming incident that unfolded on October 7, when Hamas militants launched a shocking attack on southern Israel. This assault resulted in the kidnapping of more than 220 Israelis, dual nationals, and foreigners.
